Obituary

Eliot- Edward H. "Bud" Goodwin Jr., 89 of Pleasant Street in Eliot died on May 20, 2016 at his home. Born in York Maine on February 7, 1927 he was a son of the late Edward H Sr. And Ida ( Webb ) Goodwin.
He met and married his loving wife of over sixty two years Helen ( Leach ) Goodwin and together they made a home in Eliot and raised their family.
Bud worked for thirty three and a half years at General Electric working his way up to set up man when he retired. He remained active working for many years as the Superintendent at Brooks Memorial Park and Cemetery in Eliot.
Community service was very important for Bud, over the years while his children were growing he served as a little league coach, Troop 340 Scout Master, and through his membership in the Eliot Lions Club received the Melvin Jones Fellow award for his volunteer service. He with his closest friend Ralph Richardson served many meals delivering them for the Meal on Wheels Program. Bud did so much for his community, he was recognized by the Town of Eliot as the Citizen of the year receiving the Fabian Drake Citizenship Award, and was a Volunteer of America Award Winner.
Next to his loving family Bud's greatest love was his friends, each day he enjoyed visiting with Friends at Norma's in York with his closest friend of seventy years Ralph. He was active in the Eliot United Methodist Church Men's group and always enjoyed visiting with the folks at the South Eliot Advent Christian Church Men's Group.
He will be missed by his loving family, Bruce and Cheryl Goodwin of Eliot, Raymond and Donna Goodwin and Warren Goodwin of Eliot, five grand and five great grandchildren and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his brother James Goodwin and sister Doris Downing.
Friends may visit with his family on Friday from 4-7 pm at the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A funeral will celebrated on Saturday at 11am in his church, the Eliot United Methodist Church on Route 236 with Pastor Sue Frost officiating. Care for the Goodwin family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.
