Obituary

"Edwin "Ted" "Mac" O. MacDonald, 74, of Eliot, Maine, passed away unexpectedly after a brief  illness on October 26th. He was a cherished Father, husband, brother, and friend, and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Sonia MacDonald, his two daughters Naomi Smith and Sarah Jane MacDonald and his two sisters Marth Raeside and Elizabeth Cram along with their extended families.

Ted grew up in Eliot graduating from Marshwood high school in the class of 1971. He then served his country in the Navy as an  Aviation Machinist's Mate Petty Officer 2nd Class, (a rank indicating a skilled technician responsible for the maintenance and repair of aircraft engines and related systems)  with Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron 11 on the JFK aircraft carrier. He was honorably discharged in 1977 and began a long career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as an outside machinist in shop 38 and retired in 2012 to spend his days puttering and relaxing.

He had a great love for all things mechanic, from motorcycles to lawn mowers to the occasional nuclear submarine; if it was broke, he could fix it. Teddy was an incredible story teller with a keen sense of humor hat will be sorely missed. He was a smart loyal man who loved his family very much.
