Obituary

Eleanor Gertrude (Hurley) St. Hilaire, age 84, of Dover, NH (formerly of Milton NH), passed away on June 03, 2023, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness.

Eleanor was born on July 2, 1938, in Boston, Massachusetts, daughter of the late John and Gertrude I. (Henderson) Hurley.  Raised in Dorchester, Eleanor was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School.  Eleanor went on to work as a supervisor for the Shawmut Bank of Boston.  Once married, Eleanor, with her late husband, Richard L. St. Hilaire, member of the United States Navy, traveled together to several military bases.  While stationed in Kittery Maine, they decided to settle and raise a family within the lakefront community of Milton, NH. There, Eleanor was proud and happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children.  While raising her five daughters, Eleanor also assisted her husband in his Real Estate business and then later, ventured together with him into the food business, successfully opening and operating the much-loved Donut Dome, in Milton, NH.  In her later years, Eleanor pursued a career in nursing, bringing to fruition her own passions in caring for the elderly with tremendous kindness at the Riverside Rest home, in Dover, NH.

Eleanor's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, celebrating all of life's special moments together. She enjoyed spending time at the lake as well as visiting some of her favorite spots at the ocean. Eleanor was an accomplished homemaker who loved to cook, sew, and host family gatherings.  She was a devout catholic who found deep happiness, inner peace and comfort in her faith.

Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Richard L. St. Hilaire and the caring mother of the late Brenda A. Lottinger.  She is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Wyeth and her husband, John of Dover, Michele Lloyd of Dover, Cynthia Trainor and her husband William of the Seacoast, Gail Locke and her husband Michael of Sarasota, Florida, sister-in-law's, Maureen St. Guillen and Camille St. Hilaire, grandchildren John, Abigail, Jesse, Jazzy, Blaze, Elliya, Joelle, Gemma, Tearza, Briege, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Loving sister of her late brothers John J. Hurley and Robert H. Hurley.
