Kennebunk Maine- Elinor E. DeWildt , 91 of Huntington Commons in Kennebunk, formerly a long time resident of both Alfred and Eliot, Maine died on September 20, 2018 at Huntington Commons.
Born in Gorham , NH she was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry O. And Ruth ( Mc Feet ers ) Megert . She lived in a number of Maine communities as her father a Methodist minister served several parishes. She graduated from Kents Hill High School before continuing her education at the University of Maine in Orono. While at the University she met and later married her loving husband Henry L. "Bud" deWildt and together they settled in Eliot where they would operate deWildt Poultry Farm on Hanscom Road in Eliot, providing locally g rown vegetables and poultry products for over forty years.
Early in Life she worked at Portious and Mitchell Department Store in Portland. She was an active Rainbow Girl and enjoyed knitting, rug braiding , counted cross stitch, and always made sure everyone in the family had an afghan, beanie and most recently baby blankets. She enjoyed watching competitive figure skating and time spent f resh water fishing especially on Estes Lake at her home. Her deep love of reading encouraged her to volunteer countless dedicated hours at the Alfred Library where she also enjoyed socially playing cards, cribbage and time with friends. She was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Eliot UCC.
Her first love was unquestionably her family, kids , grand and great grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She is survived by three sons and their wives; Louis H. And Joyce deWildt , Warren P. And Abigail deWildt and John D. And Kathleen deWildt , grandchildren; Victor deWildt , Angela Caler and Jim, Cynthia D e llarma and Mike, Kevin and Alyson deWildt , Jason and Amanda deWildt , Keri and Devin Monteiro , Kimberly and Matt Donahue, and eight great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit with Elinor's family on Tuesday September 25, 2018 from 10-12 with a service at noon in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904 . F ollowing refreshments a committal service will be held at 2pm in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com . Family flowers only, donations may be made in her memory to the Parsons Memorial Library 16 Saco Road Alfred Maine 04002 or to the Dementia Society of America POB 600 Doylestown PA 18901. Care for the deWildt family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home.
