Eliot- Elizabeth J. Spinney, 92 of State Road passed away at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH on Sunday July 25,2015 following a brief illness, surrounded by her large loving family. Elizabeth was a lifetime resident of Eliot, born there on November 6,1922 to the late George and Florence Jones. She graduated as valedictorian from Eliot High School and from Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA. She married David R. Spinney in 1942 and they shared twenty four years together when he passed away in December of 1965. They had four children and enjoyed many memories. The Eliot United Methodist Church played a special part in her life. She was an active member of the church her entire life. She held multiple responsibilities during her lifetime devotion to the church. Elizabeth was a home maker for most of her life and also held jobs at doctors offices, a local radio station, and Portsmouth High School. She enjoyed working in her large yard and watching the deer in the early morning and evening. She was a regular member of the Eliot Dunkin Donuts Morning Club, she loved spending time at her camp on Great East Lake in Acton Maine during the summer months and was always wiling to lend a hand to better her family, community and church. She made family her focus throughout her life, talking with them daily and often vacationing with them. She is survived by her four children:Daughter Lorraine Horan of Pensicola FL, daughter Linda and husband Bob Royce of Chester NH, daughter Norma and husband Ed Picard of Auburn, NH, and son David Spinney and Doreen of Deerfield, NH, Elizabeth was also Nana to twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and five great- great grandchildren she was very blessed to have many good friends especially lifelong friends Jeannette and Dot. She was predeceased by her hasband and a sister Louise Jones Frost. Friends are invited to visit with Elizabeth's family on Thursday from10-11 am in the Eliot United Methodist Church 238 Harold L Dow Highway ( Route 236 ) in Eliot Maine 03903, where a funeral will be celebrated at 11 am.
