Obituary

Eliot- Elmer F. Richardson, 81, died on March 24, 2015 at the Clipper Harbor Home in Portsmouth, New Hampshire after a short stay. A true native of Eliot, Maine, Elmer (Huck) was born and raised in South Eliot in the area known as the Eliot Neck. He attended local schools, graduating from Eliot High School. He and his wife, the late Frances E. (Cole) Richardson raised their family just a short distance from their own childhood homes in South Eliot. Elmer worked at Rival Foods after high school before starting his career at Washburn Plumbing and Heating in Portsmouth for over 20 years. In the early 1980's he and his son Gary began serving the local area as Richardson Plumbing and Heating, which he operated for thirty years. He was a longtime member of the South Berwick Rod and Gun Club, the Portsmouth Lodge NO 444 Loyal Order of Moose and served his community as a member of the Eliot Volunteer Fire Department. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved ballroom dancing with Fran, playing cards and playing cribbage for quarters, which he usually won. His first love was his family, enjoying time spent at the Paul's camp, family gatherings and sharing his love of the outdoors. Elmer was predeceased by his parents Willis and Lillian (Dixon) Richardson, all of his six siblings, his wife Frances, his beloved son Gary, and grandson Nathan. He is survived by his family; daughters Diana Wallingford of Nantucket, MA, Janet and her husband Terry Gagner of Kittery Point, ME, Sandy and her husband Mark Gagnon of South Berwick, ME, sons; Dan and his wife Ella Richardson of Eliot, ME, Eric and his wife Gail Richardson of South Berwick, ME, grandchildren; Keith and Kyle Wallingford, Jeremy and his wife Cecilia Gagner, and Ted Gagner, Shawn and Patrick Richardson, Sam Richardson, Kate, Josh and Chase Gagnon, Nick Richardson; great grandchildren; Zachary Wallingford, and Jacob, Luke, Terry, and Cecilia Gagner as well as many friends.
