Eliot - Eric Fillion, 70, of Eliot died suddenly on January 28, 2015 at York Hospital. Born in Dover, NH on October 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Alfred and Evelyn (Groah) Fillion. He attended local schools, graduating from Dover High School. Eric furthered his education at Wentworth Institute and the University of New Hampshire. He retired after 33 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he worked as a mechanical engineer in the Production Engineering Department, retiring from the Nuclear Auditing Department. For nearly ten years he worked for the State of New Hampshire as a toll taker at the Dover Toll Booth. He and his loving wife of 45 years, Vicky, made their home and raised their family in Eliot where he was active as an Odyssey of the Mind Coach and Judge. He also coached his children's sports teams for many years. In his early years, he enjoyed golf and bowling. He also enjoyed Sudoku and crossword puzzles. He was a Bronze Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. Since 1969, he held season tickets to UNH Hockey games, which he and his long-time friend, Joe DuBois, attended for 45 years. Eric's first love was unquestionably his family: wife, Vicky, son, Chad (Jessica) Fillion and children, Madison, Keigan, Gracen and Autumn; daughter, Paige (Shawn) Murdock and children Taydrah, Torrie and Aubrie; sister, Claudia (Carl) Vancelette; sister-in-law, Laurie Dewhurst and partner, Steve Sawyer; brother-in-law, William Dewhurst; nephew Troy Dewhurst and children, Phenix and Drake; nephew Jeff (Janine) Dewhurst and daughter, Maggie; nephew Phil (Kate) Vancelette and son, Austin; niece, Jennifer (Troy) Bedgood and sons, Tyler and Colton. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, David Grant and mother-in-law, Antoria Grant Wright. Friends may visit with Eric's family on Saturday, February 7, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine. Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 8, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
