Obituary

?Portsmouth NH- Fern Esther Lake Emery, 87, passed peacefully on November 4, 2015 at Edgewood Center surrounded by loved ones. The daughter of the late Scott and Vera (Jones) Lake, she was born in the old Portsmouth Hospital on October 21, 1928.

After graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1946, she went to work for the New England Telephone Company as a long distance operator for 10 years. In 1992, she completed 25 years at Booth Fisheries working as a receptionist and in the purchasing department. One of her many hobbies, was finding treasures in yard sales, especially cabbage patch dolls and furniture. She would refurbish them using her many talents and skills such as sewing, knitting, crocheting, stenciling, painting, and upholstering. This led to a collection of 150+ cabbage patch dolls and many beautiful pieces of furniture. Some of her other interests were going to the beach with family and friends, taking walks, and line dancing. She was a loyal member of her church and taught Sunday school for several years.

She is survived by her son, Steven and wife Cheryl of Eliot, ME, granddaughters Shannon and husband Jayson Doonan, Ashley and husband Nabil Djoumbaye, great granddaughter Maeva, brother, Arthur and wife Parnel Lake of North Carolina and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 6th at 2:00 at the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Rd Kittery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church at Spruce Creek 31 Wilson Rd Kittery, ME 03904.
