Francis H.
Clark Jr.
Mar 28, 1939 — Jun 15, 2021
Kittery - Francis H. Clark Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Kittery, ME on June 15th, 2021. Born on March 28th, 1939, Francis was the son of Francis Henry Clark Sr. and Althea E. (Mackenzie) Clark.
He grew up and attended schools in Greenfield, MA before enlisting in the United States Marines, where he served from 1957 to 1960. Francis then worked at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT for 37 years, from June 1962 to March 1999. During this time he had two children, Michael and Kelly.
One of Francis' great joys was travel, and through his travels he discovered the place that would end up being his home for 20 years: Tucson, Arizona. He moved to Tucson just three days after retiring from Pratt & Whitney and spent every moment thereafter enjoying the dry heat, desert wildlife, and visits from family and friends.
Francis was an accomplished carpenter and built a gazebo, carport, and various outbuildings at his home, along with beautiful wood carvings that he delighted in sharing with others. In his later years some of his favorite things included walking around his yard with his dogs, Nana and Chica, visiting the Sonora Desert Museum, and spending hours joking on the phone with his son. He also was an avid Yankees and NY Giants fan, but his family never held that against him. In October of 2019 Francis moved from Arizona to the home of his son and daughter-in-law in Kittery, ME. He spent the last year and a half of his life in their care, enjoying Thanksgivings, Christmases, and birthdays close to family once more.
Francis is survived by a brother, Earle; two sisters, Shirley and Betty; a son, Michael, and his wife Sharon; a daughter, Kelly, and her husband Marcel; three grandchildren, Nicole, Tanesha, and Joey; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Isla; many nieces and nephews; and his dear friend Alan.
He will be greatly missed.
There will be no services for Francis per his wishes.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in his name to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson at https://www.desertmuseum.org/support/ongoing/donate.php . Care for the Clark family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey & Son Funeral Home.
