Obituary

Somersworth- Frank E. ("Bud") Babb Jr., 79, of Tolland, CT, formerly of Rochester, NH peacefully passed away Saturday August 20, 2016.  Born in Dover, NH he was a long-time resident of Somersworth NH. He was married to the late Joyce C. Mitchell. He is survived by his two children, Linda R. Tetreault and Robert E. Babb, son in-law Ray Tetreault, and 4 grandchildren Kaitlyn Kelly, Kristen and Raymond, all of Connecticut.  He is also survived by his three sisters and brothers in-law Barbara and Marty Plante, Janet and Bob Buckley; and Gerry Vachon and Carrol Nelson; along with many nieces and nephews.

Frank was a dedicated father, grandfather, brother and uncle.  He was family oriented and always made time to lend an ear!  He was faithful, patient, kind and generous with his words.  You always walked away from him with a sense of peace.  He had a great sense of humor; always witty and quick to make you laugh!

The Babb family's roots can be traced back to the 1400's in England.  He was descended from an English sea captain who came to the US in the 1600's; the family eventually settled in the Isle of Shoals area of NH/ME.  On his mother's side the family can be traced to Nova Scotia in Canada.

After graduating high school, Frank enlisted in the Navy serving his country on the USS Ticonderoga.  After an honorable discharge he returned home.  He met his wife, Joyce, at a local dance and they were married April 28th, 1962.  He worked at the General Electric Company of Somersworth, NH and went on from there to become an officer of the Somersworth Police Department which he loyally served until accepting a position at the US Department of Defense at the US Naval Base in Portsmouth, NH.  After retiring from the US Department of Defense, Frank went on to work for the Laidlaw Bus Company until his early 70's.

Outside of his employment; he was involved in many extra-curricular activities.  He was an avid bowler, a WWE wrestling fan, a recreational fisherman, worked on automobiles with his father, Frank Sr. who owned and operated the Profile Garage in Somersworth for many years. As a true New Englander he was a devoted fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins.  He and his wife Joyce were of great faith and Frank served as a Eucharist minister.  He enjoyed walking with his beagle, Ash who he adopted as a rescue from Hurricane Katrina.  Ash was his "Little Buddy".

Recently, Frank had the opportunity to enjoy more time with his family in CT while maintaining his home and ties with family in NH.  We are comforted in knowing that he is rejoicing in heaven with his family; for this we are very happy and much at peace. We look forward to the time when we are all reunited.
