Obituary

South Berwick- Frank Joseph Whitten 91,of Portland Street in South Berwick died on October 2, 2016 at York Hospital following a period of failing health. Born and raised in the Berwicks, he attended local schools, joining the United States Marine Corps serving honorably for over eighteen years. He settled back in the Dover, NH area to raise his growing family and make his home with the love of his life Rita (Toussaint) Whitten. He worked for many years as a manager at Sawyer Mills in Dover before his retirement. Frank was an avid sports enthusiast following the Boston teams. He and Rita retired to Florida but the addition of grandchildren tugged at their hearts and brought them home. His greatest accomplishment was making sure his family was cared for and he dearly enjoyed time with them. He is survived by his family; Frank Whitten Jr and his wife Terri of North Carolina, Lawrence Whitten and his wife Kristina of North Conway, Michael Whitten and his wife Linda of Somersworth, Debra King and her husband Geordie of Eliot, Dennis Whitten of Somersworth, Sheri Whitten of East Rochester, and daughter in law Teri Whitten of Rochester. Grandchildren Timothy and Jennifer Whitten, Jarrod and Brittany King, Meghan and McKenzie Whitten, Amber Dale, and the light of his life great granddaughter Alayna. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rita who he missed every day joining her in heaven on her 92nd birthday. He was also predeceased by his precious granddaughter Katie J. Whitten. Funeral services will be private at his request with burial taking place next to his wife at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine.
