Obituary

South Berwick-Frederick (Ted) Mauger, 94, WWII vet and Bronze Star recipient, of South Berwick, ME, formerly a longtime resident of Winchester, MA, died peacefully in his home on July 4, 2018, from old age. Ted was born in Arlington, MA, on April 13, 1924, the son of Ray and Blanche (Vail) Mauger of Winchester, MA. He graduated from Winchester High class of 1941 . From April 1943-May 1946, Ted served in the Army with the 76th Infantry Division where he worked in the messaging center in central Europe. After returning home, he went to Indiana University were he met his wife-to-be, Dorothy Ann Robbins. They wed in 1948, and were so for 55 years until Dottie's death. Ted brought his family up in his hometown, Winchester.

Ted was in the lumber business throughout the Northeast for 45 years. He was a private pilot who enjoyed piloting his plane to many destinations including Haiti and Alaska. Ted was a hiker, sailer, and passionate skier through age 87.

He is survived by his children: Carolyn and her husband Kenny Olson, Maggie and her husband John Skafidas, Rick and ex-wife CJ Mauger, four grandchildren: Greg Skafidas, Kate Daskalakis, Mark Mauger and Rebecca Mauger and three great grandchildren, Cayden, Ashton, and Niko, all of whom provided great joy to Ted.

A memorial service celebrating Ted's life will be held at Parish of the Epiphany, 70 Church St, Winchester, MA , Saturday, September 15, at 11:00 .
