Gail
Beverley
Jul 23, 1937 — Apr 23, 2022
Kittery, ME - Gail Beverley, lifelong swimmer, ocean lover, educator, and world traveler died peacefully at age 84 in Kittery, Maine, April 23, 2022, listening to Roberta Flack.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to George Beverley and Marian Doerr on July 23, 1937, Gail grew up in Pigeon Cove, Rockport, Massachusetts. While her parents ran The Pigeon Cove Inn, Gail spent her days swimming off The Rocks in the Atlantic with her friends and observing nature.
With her three young daughters Gail moved to Castle Square in Boston in the late 1960s to attend college, earning a Master of Education. She worked as a teacher, a daycare center director, and then in the early 1980s when the AIDS epidemic struck close to home, she dedicated herself fully as a volunteer with the AIDS Action Committee and later worked as a HIV/AIDS health educator and counselor with Fenway Community Health Center until she retired.
Gail was a good mother, a teacher, a force, she lived her life to the fullest on her terms. If someone was suffering or had a problem, she was all in to fix it; she was generous with her ear and time. She was also impulsive, a risk taker, never uttered the word regret, and a truly unique person.
Gail leaves her daughters, Amy West (Thomas), Lyn Watson (James) and Emily Finer (Scott), her sister Joyce Londoño, niece Kali Londoño, nephew George (Charlie) Londoño and grandchildren, Emma Rivers, May Gilmore, Lila West, George West, Charlotte Finer, and great granddaughter Olivia Gilmore as well as many dear friends who will all miss her bold spirit and support.
A celebration of Gail's life will be held in Rockport, Massachusetts in July.
In honor of Gail, read to and teach children about the world, observe nature, and never miss an opportunity to dive in the deep end. Care of the Beverley Family has been entrusted to the J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home.
