Kittery, ME - George Walter Ladd Jr. passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023 at age 93, or as he would have responded, 39 to the power of 1.2388.  Born in Muskegon, MI, and known as Walt growing up, George was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran serving on the USS LST-519.  A graduate of Indiana Institute of Technology, George continued his studies at Worcester Polytechnical Institute in Massachusetts and continuous courses up to his passing.  Much of his profession as an electronic engineer was with Sprague Electric in Worcester, but George was also a small business owner, a salesman, and until his retirement a few years ago a Greeter at Sam's Club which he enjoyed immensely.

George embodied the virtues of kindness and the love of knowledge, with a spirit of positivity that made those around him feel good.  George was a passionate teacher but did so with patience and humility.  His love of attending performances in the arts and music was matched by his favorite restaurants, and his recent discovery of oysters.  He was a non-apologetic member of that special community that enjoys mathematics, physics, and all manner of electronic gadgets.

George will be missed by his son, Michael and his spouse Laura, and son Gordon, daughter Mariana and her partner Jenny.  He leaves his loving partner Eileen (Bennett), and his sister Ruth, grandchildren Jasper, Wyatt, Owen, and Spencer, and his beloved nieces and nephews.  George was preceded in death by his sister Peggy and his former wife Frances.

A service will be held on Saturday April 22, 2023 at J S Pelkey & Son Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, ME 03904 at 11am.
