Gerard "Jerry"
Gagnon
Dec 5, 1958 — Dec 11, 2024
Gerard (Jerry) Gagnon age 66 died December 11, 2024, at Mass General–Wentworth Douglass Hospital. Jerry was born to Roland and Ruth (Currier) Gagnon the youngest of six children and was a lifelong resident of Somersworth. After graduation from Somersworth High School, he was employed at General Electric until his retirement. Being a very hard worker, he also ran his own landscaping business. He was active in Veterans' organizations: Jerry was Commander of the Sons of American Legion Squadron 69 for approximately 20 years and a member of the VFW auxiliary Post 4485.
Jerry was loyal and didn't say much but you knew instinctively if Jerry liked you, without words. Thoughtful, kind, funny, and a simple soul of very few words willing to help anyone anytime. Jerry was substance not flash. Boots, Jeans, Sweatshirt and wool button long sleeve Shirt topped with a hat.
Jerry was a big teddy bear, a silent leader in life. If everyone had a life partner like Jerry this world would be a better place. Cheryl, his wife, was bedridden for 820 days. Jerry was her nurse, doctor and her assistant for all those days. Cheryl passed May 28, 2024, and in the words of Bill Belicheck –no days off - Jerry took not one day off. For over 30 years he was there for Cheryl.
He is survived by his mother Ruth of Wentworth Home, Dover NH. Siblings: Madeleine MacDougall (Bruce) of Bridgewater NH, Jackie Crombie Plymouth, MA, Ronnie Gagnon (Patty) Dade City, Florida, Roger (Pit) Gagnon, Somersworth, NH, Sharon Flanagan (David) Ogunquit, ME and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Roland, wife Cheryl, brother-in-law George Crombie and niece Jane Crombie Montesano.
