Gertrude (Guilmette Robertson) Rimbaud, 86, formerly of Somersworth, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Hospice of Charleston in Mount Pleasant, SC. Born in Somersworth November 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George and Melina (Laliberte) Guilmette. She was one of 10 children and is survived by one remaining sister, Henriette Guilmette of Dover, NH. Gertrude was a graduate of St. Martin s Grammar School, Somersworth High School, and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, Maine. She practiced nursing for over 25 years in various capacities and loved her work immensely. Gert s last couple of years presented her with numerous medical challenges. She met and survived each one with the same indomitable spirit that shone throughout her life. She will be remembered by all those she touched in life. Gertrude is the widow of the late James (Jim) Robertson (who passed in 1974) and the late Gilbert Rimbaud (who passed in 1996). She is survived by two sons: Guy Robertson of Fernandina Beach, FL and Lee Robertson of Martinez, CA; one daughter, Christine (Mrs. Hubert) Hopkins of Johns Island, SC. She also had another son, James of Phoenix, AZ, who passed away in 2013. She has 5 grandchildren (Sean and Jay of Florida; Lauren and Nicole of California; and Brian of South Carolina). She also has 3 great grandchildren, all of Florida Eythan, Noah, and Taylor. Visitation will be Wednesday May 14th from 6-8pm at Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South Street, Somersworth, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday May 15th at 11am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in St. Martin Church. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Somersworth.
