Kittery-Gordon H Millett, 69 a lifelong resident of Kittery passed away on April 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Gordon was born in York Harbor Hospital, the son of the late George and Doria M Millett. He was a lifelong resident of Kittery attending R.W. Traip Academy graduating with the class of 1966 and attending Boston University studying art.
He married his loving wife of forty-two years Elizabeth "Libby" (Potter) Millett and together they settled in Kittery raising their family.
A fantastic cook, Gordon enjoyed dabbling in real estate. As a history buff, he made many family trips studying Gettysburg, Washington DC, the presidents' homes, and Fort Ticonderoga. A lighthouse or American Indian pow-wow could always catch his attention as well as any time there was a cool classic car show which was one of his very favorite things to do.
He was a very active father, involved with all his kids through school enjoying any sporting event and never ever missing a soccer game. He was very active in his community, as a cofounder and a member for over thirty-five years of the Seacoast Kiwanis Club. He was active in the Builders Club at Shapleigh school and the Key Club at Traip Academy. He spent time volunteering as the Vice President of footprints food pantry and his most enjoyable times were spent as a Kittery Christmas secret Santa, always making sure families had a wonderful Christmas to remember with everything they needed and much more.
He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth "Libby" (Potter) Millett of Kittery. Son G. Scott Millett and his wife Christy; son Jonathan Millett and his wife Sarah; daughter Stephanie Irish and her husband Johnathon. Grandchildren William K Freitag, Jonathan W Freitag, Christian F Freitag, Addison Millett, Cheyenne Irish, and awaiting the birth of Gordon-Tice Irish any minute. A brother William Lester Bishop and his wife Frances; his sister-in-law Sandy Bishop. His mother-in-law Zelphia Potter, sisters in law Becky, Mary and Vicky several cousins, nephews, nieces, and dear friends Arny, Dana, and Greg, as well as his devoted cat Boo. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jerden Bishop, and niece Erin Bishop.
Friends are invited to visit with Gordon's family on Sunday April 9, 2017 from 1 PM to 2 PM in the J S PelkeyFuneral Home 125 Old Post Rd. Kittery ME 03904, where a remembrance of his life will be conducted at 2 PM with the Reverend Brad Hirst officiating.
