Obituary

Berwick- Grace Ann Hodgdon, 84 of Sullivan Street in Berwick died on August 22, 2020 at her home.

Born in Old Town Maine on June 7, 1936 she was a daughter of Susy ( Grant ) Butler. She moved at an early age after the Polio Epidemic to live with her sister Gladys' family in Worcester while her mom cared for ailing family. Attending schools in Worcester, then graduating from Husson College. She married Alonzo E. Hodgdon, who came from a family of fourteen, at age nineteen. was the first  women with children to be hired by Massachusetts Mutual Insurance.

Grace was a long time employee of JP's Shellfish in Eliot where she was the Head Accountant for many years. In the early years, Grace also worked at the Homemakers of New Hampshire. She made her home in Kittery in the late 1980's and then in Eliot for many years. She purchased her home and settled in Berwick ten years ago and enjoyed the company of her cats and dog. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed bowling with team in Portsmouth, and cherished her view of the birds and nature out of her window. After retirement she spent the majority of her time traveling the world to visit her daughter Holly and much time traveling with brother Edward Butler and mutual friends.

She dedicated her life to her family that she loved so dearly, as they were her life!

Survived by Holly and Christopher Mello, Patricia and James Schaffer, Vickie Whitcomb and many grand and great grandchildren. Lovingly known as Gramma Grace, or Greatma to family and nonfamily alike.

She was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Rose Potter in 2010.

Friends are invited to join her family at a graveside service in Evergreen Cemetery in berwick Maine at 1PM on Thursday September 3, 2020.
