PORTSMOUTH - Grace C. Donnell, 86, Portsmouth, died peacefully with family at her side, on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Durgin Pines Nursing Home in Kittery, ME following a period of failing health.

Born in McAfee, NJ, on September 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Grace (Drew) Sammis.

Grace loved the outdoors, working with flowers and years ago in the vegetable garden.  She liked feeding the birds.  When Grace was young she loved to knit doll clothes and baby sweater sets.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerald C. (Jerry) Donnell, who died in 2013.  They were married 55 years.  She was also preceded by sister Nancy Viletstra, brothers Leo and Linn Sammis, and sister-in-law Dolores Sammis.

She is Survived by sister Mary Benson and husband David, Vernon, NJ; brother-in-law Fred Viletstra, Middletown, NY;   sister-in-law Gloria Sammis, Tom's River, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home, Kittery, ME, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, with visiting hours at 11:00 am, a memorial service at 12:00 pm, followed by internment at Brooks Cemetery, Eliot, ME.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Grace's memory to the American Heart Association.
