Obituary

Grace L. Joncas of Rollinsford, NH, passed away peacefully on February 1st,  2024, at the age of 100, at Dover Center for Health & Rehabilitation.

Born in the Village of Salmon Falls, Town of Rollinsford, on December 22, 1923, to Hector Senechal and Emelia (Bisson) Senechal.

She is predeceased by her parents,her brother Richard,her Husband Richard Sr also her niece and nephew Janet and Richard Jr.

Grace is survived by her son Richard Jr. and his wife Donna; granddaughter, Stefanie and partner Ed Young; great grandchildren, Kayley and Joshua Young, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Grace was a high school graduate of St. Joseph's academy in South Berwick, Maine. After school Grace went on to become a woman who wore many hats. She served as a member of the NH House of Representatives for many years. Then as a member of the Board of Selectman for Rollinsford while also running the Meals on Wheels Program in town. She was also a member of St. Anne's Guild at St. Mary's Church of Rollinsford. She was also a lifetime member of the Rollinsford American Legion Auxiliary Post 47. She co-owned, with her husband, Grace & Dicks Catering and Food Truck. She was also known for serving lunch at Salmon Falls Shoe where you could grab her famous whoopie pies and coconut cream pies.

Grace enjoyed crocheting, making braided rugs, gardening, and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed visiting family in Canada, taking rides to North Conway and York Beach. Every summer you could find Grace in a blueberry field where she would pick for hours. Grace was also a great singer, she was a member of The 4 Radio Pals in her younger years and went on to sing at church and weddings. She also loved playing her organ.

A time of visitation will be Wednesday, February 7th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bernier-Pelkey Funeral Home, 49 South Street Somersworth. A Mass of Christian Burial  will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8th, at St. Mary's Church,  411 Church Street, Rollinsford.
