Helen
Chick
Apr 26, 1935 — Apr 17, 2021
South Berwick -Helen Chick, 85 of Clark's Lane in South Berwick died on April 17, 2021 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital following a short illness.
Helen was born on April 26, 1935 at home in Dover, Nh a daughter of Flossie Barnes and raised by her aunt Corrine Barnes and grandmother Rose Barnes in the home next to her birthplace. She was raised in and attended Dover schools. Early in life she worked at the Old Dover Drug Store until beginning a long career she greatly enjoyed with New England Telephone as a switchboard operator in Dover.
In 1958 she married her loving husband of fifty eight years Robert ( Bob) Chick and together they would spend a time in Kittery before settling in South Berwick during the summer of 1975.
Helen loved going out dancing with her husband every Saturday night for what seemed to be for decades, she loved shopping & bus trips to Manhattan for shopping & plays on Broadway. Always with her childhood best friend Peggy Marble & her daughter. She loved going to plays & pagents in Hampton beach, and loved the beach & the warmth of the sun. Not an outdoors gal by any means but anytime she could sit in a lounge chair in the sun be it at the beach or in her yard... she was happy. She loved spending hours on her computer after she was more home bound & watching dancing with the stars.
Helen's first love was undoubtedly her family, she is survived by, her son, Robert (Bobby) Chick of South Bewick, daughter Laurie Morton & son in law Tim Morton of Eliot, grandsons; Christoper Morton of Berwick & Michael and his wife Amanda Morton & two great grandsons Camden & Tucker of North Berwick & niece Judy Chick of Eliot who is a true angel among us in caring for Helen & the family. We all are so grateful & blessed to Judy for all she has sacrificed in her own life for all she has given of herself, her time & her beautiful heart to Helen & Helen's family.
Donations may be made in Helen's name to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital by visiting www.st.jude.org, or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Helen will be buried next to her husband in Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot, at a private family service.
