Obituary

SOMERSWORTH - Helen A. (Couture) Nobis, 78, of 80 Washington St died 19 January, 2013 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital after a prolonged illness. She was born September 19, 1935 in Somersworth NH, the daughter of Charles and Antoinette (Plante) Couture. A lifelong resident of Somersworth, Helen worked for over four decades as an office clerk for a number of area companies including Somersworth Shoe, Miller Shoe (in Somersworth), Servomation (in Dover) and Citizen's Bank (formerly Granite State Bank in Somersworth) where she ultimately retired from. In her retirement she also worked part time for a few years at the Somersworth Senior Center helping to prepare daily meals. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and numerous friends benefited greatly from this hobby over the years with many clothing, household items and toys who's quality and sentiment far surpassed anything that could be purchased at a store. She also greatly enjoyed country music, New England seafood and drives to the beach. She is survived by her son Timothy Nobis, his wife Tricia and four grandchildren, Garrett, Austin, Blake and Veronica all of Papillion, Nebraska; two sisters, Theresa Ruel and her husband Norman of Somersworth, and Jeannine Fortier of Dover; and many members of two families who she considered family, the Viola's and Boucher's. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday the 24th of January, at St. Martin Catholic Church, 120 Maple St., Somersworth NH. Rev. Michael S. Taylor, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Arrangements are entrusted to Bernier Funeral Home 49 South St. Somersworth www.bernierfuneralhome.net
