Eliot- Helene Susan Jenkins, 90 a lifelong resident of River Road in Eliot died on February 29, 2024 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital following a period of failing health.
Helene was born on August 9, 1933 a daughter of the late Napoleon (Nap) and Julia Dorothy (Dot) (Abbott) Rousseau.
In 1951 Helene met and married her loving husband Thomas Jenkins and together they built their home and raised their family on River Road for over sixty-three years. Tom was the love of her life they enjoyed travel and many nights of dancing together.
Helene was always known for her signature smile and current fashion always being dressed to the hilt and adorning a fresh hair dew all through life even into her later years.
She was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church in Eliot and the North Church in Portsmouth. She was well known for her "green rice "and gallons of tasty baked beans made for every church supper.
Helene was a trusted bookkeeper for many local companies over the years including Ricci Construction, Ray K Grover Construction and with her family at Jenkins Fuels.
She is survived by her family; Sons; Bryan and his wife Ann Jenkins, and Russell Jenkins, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren whom she adored. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Thomas, son Joseph and brother Paul.
Funeral services will be private. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
