Obituary

Somersworth-Henriette F. Guilmette, 85, of Somersworth, NH, entered her eternal rest on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Riverside Rest Home in Dover, NH. Born on September 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George and Melina (Laliberte) Guilmette. She was the last remaining of their 10 children. Henriette was a graduate of St. Martin's Grammar School and Somersworth High. She retired from General Electric where she worked first as telephone operator and then as a file clerk. Prior to that, she worked many years as a telephone operator for Verizon both in Somersworth and Dover. She was a member of St. Martin's Church in the St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish where she had been very active over the years. Henriette's reading skills made her the parish's best lector. She was also Eucharistic Minister and for years also trained the altar servers. She belonged to the Children of Mary and was an active member of the Catholic War Veterans. In addition, she transported and chaperoned girls to retreats in Hudson, NH, and also traveled to Lourdes in France with a group from her church. She spent nearly every Sunday for 40 years with her sister Connie at the Viel Farm in Rollinsford where she loved to play cards, kept everyone laughing, and was considered part of the family. Her love of life, her sense of humor, and her sweet spirit brought joy to all who loved and cared for her especially during the last 3 years of her life at Riverside Rest Home. She was famous for her soup, but she especially loved having her golden margaritas (on the rocks w/salt)! She is predeceased by her sisters Madeleine Gagne, Constance Viel, Jeanine McAdam and Gertrude (Trudy) Rimbaud and brothers Richard, Paul, Bernard, Delmore, and Conrad (Butch) Guilmette. She never married but she told everyone she met of her 45 nieces and nephews and 62 great-nieces/ nephews who all called her "Auntie" and loved her for the special attention she paid to each and every one of them. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14, from 6-8 pm at the Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in St. Martin's Church on Friday, May 15, at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverside Memorial Fund, c/o Riverside Rest Home, 276 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820.
