Obituary

Eliot- Henry G. Whitney, 71 recently a resident of Baran Place in Eliot and a long time resident of South Berwick died suddenly on December 24, 2016 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.  Henry was born on July 30, 1945 in Portsmouth New Hampshire a son of the late Harold and Madeline (Botsford) Whitney. He attended local schools before serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was stationed for basic training at Ft Dix, then assigned to the 25 th in Hawaii before being assigned overseas to Vietnam and Germany. He returned to the US making his home and raising a family in South Berwick. An active out of doors man he enjoyed clay pigeon shooting, hunting and fishing . He had been employed over the years at Simplex, doing excavating work and trucking on his own and most recently at Hussey Seating as a truck driver.  He is survived by his loving family daughters, Sandra Whitney of Milton, NH, Anne Whitney-Gray and her husband Nick of Eliot ME, Kirstie McGary and her husband Robert of Rochester, NH and Sarah Shinn and her husband Patrick of Somerswoth, NH. Grandchildren:  Travis Thibeau, Gaige Thibeau, Robbie Caligiure, Grace Gray, Isabella Gray, Brayden McGary, Kayla McGary and Colin Shinn.  2 great grandchildren, Ava and Holden Thibeau Siblings:  Eleanor Crouch and spouse Richard of Greenbush, ME, Harold Whitney Jr and spouse Annette of Nac, Texas, George Whitney of Kittery ME, Nancy Hunley and spouse Bob of Kittery, ME, Stanley Whitney and wife Paula of Portsmouth, NH, Shirley Ostrander and spouse David of Barrington, NH, Carol Drouin of Berwick, ME, Linda Chase and spouse Bob of Portsmouth. NH, Philip Whitney and spouse Sylvia of Gonic, NH, Ronald Whitney and wife Jackie of South Berwick , ME, e was predeaced by parents Harold and Madeline (Botsford) Whitney, sister Patricia Bickford and Barbara Perkins and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit with Henry's family in Friday December 30,2016 from 5-7 pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904.
