Obituary

Howard E. Huntress Jr., 83, passed away peacefully at his home on November 16, 2025. He was born to parents, Edythe (Pettigrew) and Howard E. Huntress Sr, in Eliot, spending his whole life there.

Howard was a graduate of Eliot High School in the class of 1961. Shortly after as a member of the National Guard he would be deployed to Vietnam from 1968-1969, as a part of the 3rd BN 197th Artillery. He would then go on to spend the next 47 years working for the town as a member of the Highway Dept, the town dump, and recycle center. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 188 in Eliot, as well as VFW Post 168 in Portsmouth, NH.

Howard enjoyed his vegetable garden, and keeping up with all the coming and goings that would happen over the years in his beloved town of Eliot. More than anything he loved family and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, as well as his older brother, William E. Huntress Sr.

Howard is survived by his sister Eva M. Parshley of Portsmouth, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside with military honors will be held Saturday, June 13th, at 2.00pm in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, State Road, Eliot, Maine, 03903.
