Center Barnstead, NH - Irene Marie Derosier, 69, died on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Concord Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born in Rochester, NH, the eldest child of Arnold and Helene Houde of Somersworth, NH.
Irene attended Somersworth High School and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Art Education. She taught elementary art at Chichester Central School, was active in the New Hampshire Art Educators Association, and was selected as the New Hampshire Art Educator of the Year in 2009. Following her retirement from teaching, she pursued her interests in gardening, pottery and travel -- establishing a home pottery studio and traveling to such far off places as China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, Spain and Mexico collecting various artifacts from the place she visited.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Helene Rendell.
Irene is survived by her husband of 49 years James of Center Barnstead, NH; daughter Elizabeth of Wareham, Mass; her son Jonathan and his wife, Hyeonjoo Lee of Burke, VA; son Jeffrey and his wife Amanda of Warren, NJ; her sisters Diane Houde and Norma Govinelli; and her brothers Donald, Paul, Roger and Philip Houde. She has three grandchildren Gabrielle, Sophie and Bennett a fourth grandchild expected soon.
A memorial mass will be held on at 11AM on July 26, 2021, at St Martins Church of St Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 120 Maple Street, Somersworth, NH. Following the mass, there will be a memorial reception at the Three Chimneys Inn from 1PM-4PM, located at 17 Newmarket Road, Durham, NH. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
