Irene Dubois McCann, 97, of Somersworth, NH. passed away after a brief illness Saturday, May 4 at home. Born in Epping, NH in 1926 to Beatrice (Guilmette) and Romeo Jacques, and lost her mother at five and father at twelve. She was raised by her step-mother, Angel (Tanguay), along with four half siblings.

Irene was a lifelong resident of Somersworth, attending local schools, working at Stein's Shoe Factory, and General Electric from which she retired. In between, she cared for children in her home to help other mothers, while fulfilling her own desire to stay home with her own children. She was a lifelong devoted member of St. Martin's Church/St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish.

Irene married Bertrand Dubois on Sept 11, 1948, and together raised three children, whom she treasured. Following Bert's death in 1981, Irene later found love again. She married Robert McCann of MA in 1998 and they had 22 special years together before Bob's death in 2020. Irene was lovingly embraced by his family, who found a special place in her heart. Bob and Irene traveled extensively, and spent many months in FL each winter.

Irene had an affinity for remembering family connections of friends and neighbors, and local historical events.  She could have been city historian. She loved musical theatre, playing cards, reading non-fiction books, and playing her piano daily.

Irene's legacy of love, kindness, and friendship lives on with her family and everyone whose lives she touched. She had many treasured friends, both young and old, even into her later years.

Irene is survived by three devoted children, Dennis and wife Pat of Rochester, NH, Patricia Dubois of Falls Church, VA and Joseph Maroun of Edmonds, WA, Elaine DelBianco and husband Steven of McLean, VA; grandchildren, Alexander Maroun and wife Claire, Philip Maroun, Dr John DelBianco, and Lena DelBianco; great grandson, Ellis Maroun. Also brother-in-law, Wally and wife Elaine of MA; stepchildren, MaryJane Restuccia, Pauline Mahoney, Roberta McCann and wife Patricia Buck, of MA; Michael and wife Melissa of NC. Dear to her was daughter-in-law, Cindy McCann Lawlor, her children, Caitlin McCann and Matthew McCann, and great granddaughter, Evelyn, and many more nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irene is predeceased by Bertrand Dubois, Robert McCann, Daniel DelBianco (grandson); brothers Romeo Jacques, Richard Jacques; sisters, Rita Legere, Arlene Reynolds; stepson, Robert McCann Jr, stepdaughter, Gara Madden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Martin's Church, 120 Maple St., Somersworth, NH, on Friday, May 31. Family will receive family and friends in the church lobby beginning at 12:00 PM with Mass at 1:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome contributions in Irene's memory to St Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Somersworth, NH.
