Obituary

Kittery - Irving Rohrbacher Jr, 86 of Spinney Way in Kittery, Maine died on December 9, 2017 with his family by his side. Born on July 23,1931 in Medford, MA he was a son of the late Irving and Ruth (Picard) Rohrbacher and attended local Medford schools. In his early years he was drafted by the Boston Braves. He was employed at the Boston Post Newspaper.  In 1950 Irv started his Glassblowing career at Electronics Corporation of America in Cambridge, MA then worked at Edgerton, Germeshausen and Grier in Bedford, MA. Much later as talented Scientific Glass Blower he and the mother of his children Ursula formed Stillmeadow Glass Works, Inc. of Hampton Falls, NH. The business grew to include several Fortune 500 companies with the help of his daughter Kim and many talented Glass Blowers including his late nephew Jim Bertwell. Irv was able to complete his last job for Osram Sylvania shortly before he died. He was also co-owner of Hampton River Marine in Hampton, NH a Mercury Marine and Wellcraft boat dealer . He enjoyed racing MOPAR in his younger years with Ryan Motors at Sanford Dragway. As an avid hunter he formed the Boarshead Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, enjoyed duck hunting on James Bay, Elk hunting in Colorado, and trips to the hunting camp at Rocky Branch in Bartlett, NH. He also enjoyed many summers at a Methodist Retreat in Epping, NH called Heading Campground. He is survived by his daughter whom he always referred to as "his only begotten daughter" Kim Rohrbacher Foley of Kittery, ME and her girls Jessica and Diana, his great grandson Chase Christopher, son Mark Rohrbacher and his wife Andrea of Charleston, SC and their boys Tyler and Justin as well as a step son Robert Thompson of Brentwood, NH. Siblings, Fred Rohrbacher and his wife Margy, Jean Bertwell, and Martha Roger all of whom reside in Florida.
