Obituary

Eliot-James R. "Curly" Pope, 83 of Clark Road in Eliot, died suddenly on September 8, 2021 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital .

Born in Portland Maine on May 30, 1938 Jim graduated from R W Traip Academy in Kittery and began a lifelong career on the water. First serving his Country in the United States Coast Guard , then working as a Tug Boat Captain for Moran Towing for over twenty five years, as well as many years tending to Whaleback Lighthouse.

He enjoyed his church families at Second Christian and First Congregational Church of Eliot UCC. Over the years he and his wife both enjoyed their Corvette's .

He is survived by his family Glen Ellen Roth and Gordon Mehlman as well as nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit with his family on Thursday from 5-7pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com . A celebration will also be announced next spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the technology fund at First Congregational Church of Eliot, UCC at www.eliotucc.org , .
