Kittery Point- Elinor "Jane "Brooks, 82 of Brave Boat Harbor Road in Kittery Point died on March 24, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a hard-fought battle against cancer.

Jane was born on June 20, 1937 in Yarmouth Maine, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Mildred (Roberts) Place.  Jane is predeceased by her sister Judy (Place) Pruett.

When she was young, Jane made her home here in the seacoast before settling in Eliot, where she attended school. Upon marrying her loving husband Charles Brooks in 1957 they made a home and raised their family in Kittery Point.

While her family was growing, she was a tireless supporter of the PTA, an active member of the Eliot Grange, one of the original organizers and volunteers for Meals on Wheels, volunteered for the Church Food Bank for many years and the Salvation Army. She continued volunteering as her children were raised, most recently a tireless supporter of End 68 Hours of Hunger.

She was an active member of her church in Kittery Point serving on the Board of Deacons, the Search Committee for the church pastor and many other duties. Most recently she and Charlie found the vibrant congregation at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Eliot and were active members there.

Jane loved to travel with Charles.  Lifelong friends Charlie & Pat Tobey and Allen & Ann Hale were valued and loved travel companions and far beyond.

Jane dearly enjoyed time spent with her children, grand and great grandchildren children, especially holidays and time spent at camp all together. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed her abundant gardens.  Jane was also an avid baker who spent Saturday mornings baking, pies being her specialty, for family and friends.  All were welcome to stop in for a coffee break.

She will he missed by those who knew and loved her including her loving husband Charles P Brooks, son Robert Brooks & his partner Holly Ross, Robert's daughter Kristen Tumolo & husband Nick, Holly's son Anthony Ross & wife Sharon Ross, son Alan Brooks & his wife Ann Brooks, their blended familyRyan Brooks & Colleen George, Jennifer Brooks, Dane Shaw & Tiffany Ranalla, Erin Shaw, Samantha (Brooks) Campbell & Kyle Campbell.  Daughter Wendy (Brooks) Blouin & husband Leo Blouin, their daughter Emma Blouin.  Jane's great-grandchildren are: Charlie, Chase, Owen, Atalie, Finlay with bonus great-grandchildren Broden, Kaden, Nevaeh , Aubrey, Lucas and Nathan.   Additional family members are Jane's niece Karen Webster, nephew Steve Pruett, niece Sandra Garrett and their families.
