Eliot – Janice, M Bowden, 85 of 10 Casylyn Dr., Eliot, died on January 22, 2024 at York hospital.

Born in Eliot Maine on January 31, 1938, she was a daughter of James E Jr and Bessie Langley Sylvester. She was in 1956 graduate of Eliot High School and was employed by Hudson's apparel, Inc., of Portsmouth as a bookkeeper for many years, retiring in 2003.

She was a member and communicant of the First Congregational Church of Eliot, UCC, the ladies circle of the church, Eliot High School Alumni Association, Senior Citizens of Eliot, and John F Hill Grange # 393 presently serving as its treasurer. She was also a member of York Pomona, Grange, #14, Maine State, Grange, and National Grange.

She is survived by a stepson, Michael C Bowden of Sanford two stepdaughters, Bonnie Foster, and her husband, Gerri, of Colorado and Marie, Graham of Montana, seven step grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. she is also survived by several nieces nephews and cousins. Marcel and Jenni Phillipe, Romona and Dan Vorce, Donald and Debbie Sylvester of Eliot, and Russell Sylvester of Denmark, Maine,  Chad Sylvester, Maggie Sylvester and Robert Sylvester.

Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Charles W Bowden in 1993, two brothers, Robert a Sylvester in 1964 and James W Sylvester in 2007, a niece, Cynthia A. Cots in 2007.

Friends are invited to visit with Janice's family on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 3-5pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Rd Kittery Maine 03904. A funeral will be celebrated on January 30, 2024 at 11am followed by a luncheon in the First Congregational Church of Eliot 1361 State Road Eliot, Maine 03903, with her pastor the Reverend Dr Elizabeth Hoffman officiating.
