Kittery - Janice Vivian Poitras, 78, of Kittery, Maine sadly passed away on September 8th. Janice was born in St. Johnsbury Vermont on November 11, 1943. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1962.

Janice leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Marcel Poitras, and her children Paul Poitras and his wife June Poitras, Robert Poitras, Sandra Newick and her husband Steve Clauson, Raymond Poitras, and his wife Tanya Poitras. Janice has eight wonderful grandchildren, Brian Poitras, Erica Poitras, Brittany Logue, Amber Poitras, Carissa Newick, Nicholas Clauson, Mason Poitras, and Madison Poitras.

Janice was predeceased by her son Kevin Poitras, at the young age of 37, due to a heart defect he was born with that eventually took his life much too early. She was also predeceased by her sister, Lois Lenton, and her brother, Maurice Cuthbertson. We take comfort in knowing they are together again.

Janice was a wonderful and caring wife, mom, and meme. She was always there for you when you needed her and was such a strong, hard-working woman. If you had the pleasure to know our mom, she was funny, quiet, and loved to shop and go on lunch dates with her good friend Brenda. She retired from the Portsmouth Regional Hospital as a chef after 25 years and loved to cook and bake for the family, and she cooked enough to feed the entire neighborhood. She loved spending time with her family and always had a love for horses.

She was very loved and will be missed terribly. Per her request, no services will be held, rather a celebration of her life, which will be on September 25, 2022, at 145 Somersworth Road, North Berwick Maine from 1-5 P.M.
