Jean Marie (Viviano) Kane

July 22,1929 – April 17, 2021 (age 91)

Jean Marie Kane died peacefully at her home in Eliot, ME. She was the wife of the late William Raymond (Ray) Kane, who died in  2013.

Jean was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on July 22, 1929, the daughter of Thomas and Violet (Marusak) Viviano. She married Ray on September 6, 1952, in St. Margaret's Church in Greentree, PA. In 1954 they moved to Framingham, MA. From 1965 to 1987,Jean and her family lived in Sudbury, MA, where she and her husband were long-time members of Our Lady of Fatima Church. They both retired in 1987 and moved to Eliot, ME.

Jean had attended Duquesne University. Later, she worked for 15 years in the administrative office of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, and took pride in helping students find part-time, and in some cases, full-time work. Jean always graciously opened her house to friends, relatives, and her children's friends providing endless hospitality. To her delight, alarge number of family and friends attended her surprise 90 th birthday celebration held at one of her favorite restaurants – The Wayside Inn.

Jean was a dedicated, loving, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and initiated many family get-togethers in Eliot. Always looking younger than her actual age, Jean exuded youthfulness in her engaging conversations with family, friends, and acquaintances of all ages. She was also an extraordinary cook and an avid reader.

Jean is survived by her four children – Michael Kane and his wife Patricia; Maryann Kane Nudd and her husband Thomas; Thomas Kane; and Valerie Kane. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Sarah Kane and Nicolas Kane and his husbandTravis Place; Thomas Nudd and his wife Kelly; Alison Kane and Alexandra Kane; and William Castner and Meredyth Curtis.
