Jeanne Louise
Dalzell
Dec 16, 1942 — Sep 8, 2023
Jeanne Louise Pfeiffer Dalzell, 80, of Kittery, died peacefully at home surrounded by family in the early morning hours on Friday, September 8.
Born in December, 1942, she grew up in Racine, Wisconsin until her family moved to Seward, Nebraska where her father was a professor at Concordia Teachers College (now Concordia University). Jeanne experienced a happy childhood with her siblings, cousins, and friends, along with her fair share of shenanigans. She attended Concordia High School, and later Emmanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, where she was president of her class, before moving to Boston.
Jeanne met Chandler Dalzell while skiing in Canada. They were married and lived briefly in Ogden, Utah before moving back east to Kittery Point, Maine where she worked as an RN at Homestead and later York Hospital until retirement.
Jeanne was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 50 years. In more recent years, she and Chandler thoroughly enjoyed their roles as Mana and Paka to their grandsons as they grew. Jeanne was always quick with a smile and up for an adventure.
Jeanne is survived by Chandler, her husband of 51 years, her sister Marian Baden of Orange, CA, her brother Ron Pfeiffer and his wife Brenda of Portland, OR, her son David of Kittery, her daughter Kristen Crawford of Dover, NH, and her two grandsons, Noah and Ethan Crawford, as well as by her beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
She was pre-deceased by daughter-in-law, Sarah Dalzell, and brother-in-law, Robert Baden.
Jeanne will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington, NH.
