Eliot- Jeannette M. Driver 86,passed away peacefully on Thursday,following a brief period of illness May 21, 2015, in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Jeannette was born in Spencerport, NY, on February 20, 1929, daughter to the late Chester and Leona Rieger Smith. In her early years Jeannette grew up with horses and was an expert barrel racer in Spencerport, NY. After graduating high school, and attending college she and her late husband Lieutenant Colonel William B. Driver, moved to San Antonio, Texas and married. Jeannette always put family first, leaving a respected position at Kodak to dedicate her life to her family. Through sixty years of marriage, the couple and their family lived throughout the United States as well as in other countries with the Air Force, gathering countless lifelong friends and touching the hearts of many. Together they retired to New Hampshire and later moved to Eliot, ME, in 1993 in order to be close to their grandchildren. Jeannette was a kind and loving woman, and devoted grandmother to friends and family alike. She raised five children, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her ability to take in those who surrounded her as her own was second to none. For years, Jeannette worked one on one with special needs children. She enjoyed being involved in community garden club and ladies circle as part of the First Congregational Church of Eliot UCC. She enjoyed horseback riding, ice skating, dancing, knitting, reading and loved all children. Jeannette is survived by William and Christina Driver of Granby, MA, John and Rhonda Driver of Erie, PA, James and Beverly Driver of Eliot, ME, Dorinda and Stephen Doyle of N. Fort Myers, FL, and Cynthia and Dr. Haskell Kingston of Eliot, ME, former daughter-in-law Carol Caldwell and former son-in-law Richard Pickford, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
