Eliot- Jeannette Spinney Paul "Jan" , 95 of 173 Pleasant Street in Eliot died on December 23, 2018 at her home. Born in Eliot on January 5, 1923 she was a daughter of Advil and Elsie ( Wood) Spinney and attended local schools.
In 1941 she married her loving husband Francis D. Paul and together they built a home on Pleasant Street where they would raise their five children.
She was an active member of her beloved community. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Church school teacher and rarely missed a little league game of her children or grandchildren. She served on the Eliot Children's Leadership Council and Substance Abuse Prevention Council. As a long time member of the Eliot Historical Society, she was a dedicated tour leader at the restored #8 School House Museum on Greenwood Street.
She was a known, talented poet and recognized for her work nationally ,was known to many in the community as she would pen a special poem for many events and celebrations.
Jan was a corner stone member of the Eliot United Methodist Church for over seventy years, serving as church historian, as well as many other other capacities throughout the years. Her first love was unquestionably her family. She is survived by her loving children ; Sharon, Joan, Harry, Debby and Pam, 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A funeral will be celebrated on Saturday December 29, 2018 at her church at 10 am, the Eliot United Methodist Church on Route 236 in Eliot. Burial will be next to her husband in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot. Donations may be made in her memory to her church or the Eliot Historical Society.
