Obituary

Berwick, ME - Jeffrey D. Chandler, 35, of Berwick, ME, passed away of natural causes on January 24th. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Gina, their son, Landon, mother Susan, brothers Eric and Kevin and many family members, near and far.

Jeff's physical strength was matched only by his strength of spirit. "Never look back unless you are planning to go that way (H.D. Thoreau)." That was Jeff's outlook on life. He made his own path starting as a child, riding his bike through the streets of Berwick with his best friend, Hank. Soon he moved on to racing down roads in his red Cavalier or Hank's mom's Corvette, friends always by his side ready to get into whatever trouble they could find. The adventure only grew with age as he worked to make good on a promise told to his buddies in eighth grade when he first saw Gina, stating he would marry her someday. November 26, 2005, he did just that. Jeff held their son 3 years later and was amazed daily by him and the love he held for him.

Jeff never failed to tell it like it was, or reference the perfect movie quote. He truly lived and cherished every minute and refused to get caught up in the small stuff. He battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma for 3 years determined he would not miss any time with his son or wife. Jeff believed, "you can make it, but first you must endure (C. Thomas)." He certainly did make the most of the next 4 and half years, playing soccer and baseball with his son, cooking, deer and bear hunting, lifting in the gym, and traveling to Florida, Las Vegas, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Services: A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 30th at 2pm at the Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick, ME. The celebration will continue at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), 43 High Street, Somersworth, NH, at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to AmysTreat.org, PO Box 2234, Dover, NH, 03821. They provided a special "treat" of Red Sox tickets while Jeff underwent cancer treatment. That game lifted the gloom of cancer, if just for one night, and provided the happiness that only the Green Monster and a Fenway Frank can.
