Obituary

Jeffrey Arthur Pride, 77 years old, of Kittery, Maine, died April 20 after a long illness and courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was the son of Richard Winfield Pride and Marion Elsie (Kimball) Pride of Westbrook, Maine. Jeff was a devoted Husband, Brother, Father, Uncle, Great-Uncle, and friend to many. He was the youngest of five children. Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Andree; sister Linda Jones and her husband, Jim, of Raymond, Maine; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Predeceased by son Gregory, brothers Richard and Stephen, and sister Nancy Weegar. No services are planned at this time.

Jeff was born and raised in Westbrook, attending public schools to which there were no school buses at that time; he always walked to and from school. Jeff was drafted into the Army, serving in Intelligence, and was a Veteran. Jeff attended the University of Maine at Orono, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Jeff was a Mason at Saccarappa Lodge in Westbrook. Jeff's dream job was with the Maine Railroad in Portland, Maine. Jeff retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as an Electrical Engineer. Jeff was a Professional Engineer in Maine. Jeff was a member and past Treasurer at First Congregational Church of Kittery at Kittery Point.

Jeff had a unique outlook on humor and was a mild-mannered genius. In Jeff's personal life, he enjoyed gardening, playing piano, time at camp, walks on the beach, spoiling his cat and dog, photography, making movies on the computer, keeping up with politics, watching the Red Sox, reading books (especially anything to do with submarines), building Heathkit TVs and stereos, model train enthusiast, built and used flying and underwater drones, enjoyed a good comic strip to the point where he would copy it, enlarge it, color it in, and even modify it. He liked cooking new recipes, always had a pen in his shirt pocket, and loved sailing. His favorite family event was the Annual Cider Fest at Linda's.

Jeff was most proud of his numerous blood donations that helped so many others. The day Jeff died was Patriots' Day, which is fitting since he was a true Patriot of this country, following politics, supporting it, and being involved. The Red Sox won that day, too. He is already missed.

Thank you to the Wentworth Douglass Hospital Cancer Center for taking such great care of Jeff. Every single person was so caring from the beginning to the end.

Thank you to the Kittery Lions Club for supplying so many items to help make home life possible and so much easier.
