Berwick, ME - Jeffrey K. Rutherford died on March 6, 2016 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Dover N.H. of complications due to pneumonia. He was 71.

He was born on April 11, 1944 in Boston Massachusetts. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1962 and from Bowdoin College in 1966. He attended at summer semesters at Boston University in 1967 and 1968. In 1968 -1969 he obtained a Master's Degree plus 45 credits from University of N.H. in Music History and Music Education. He was just shy of a PhD. He started working for the Kittery School Dept. at R.W. Traip Academy in Sept. 1966 as Music Director. He also taught music and chorus at Frisbee School. He retired from teaching in June of 1998. From there he went into carpentry and woodworking. He established Adirondack Woodcraft, his own business.

He was an avid camper and outdoorsman. He love hiking, playing golf, mountain climbing, and fishing. Camping with family at Lake Eaton was a love of his. His dream was to own property on Lake Eaton. His dream came true in 1999. In 2000-2001 he built our summer home. It was our Adirondack Heaven. He also owned an 1875 Adirondack guide boat that he loved. It is still being used by family today.

He is survived by Cynthia, his wife of 21 years; a son, Scott Rutherford of Portsmouth N.H.; daughter Wendy Corrigan and Husband Mike; 3 grandchildren, Siena, Mike Jr., and Joel Corrigan; sister Judy MacNab, of W. Lebanon N.H.; brother John Rutherford and his wife Donna of Niles Ohio; brother James Rutherford and his wife Kathleen of Dover Delaware. Four nieces and two nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Gaynor K. Rutherford and Barbara Curtis Rutherford; also a nephew, Doug MacNab from Virginia Beach Virginia.

Services: A memorial visitation will be held at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd, Kittery Maine, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2016. Jeff will be buried in a private service on July 17, 2016 in Long Lake N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kittery Music Boosters, Shapleigh School, 18 Stevenson Rd.
