Obituary

Kittery- Jennie Victoria Hill, 90 died at home on Feb 18, 2016 surrounded by her family. Jennie was born in Newington, NH, Nov. 25, 1925 to parents Pauline and James Karlo who had immigrated to the United States from Poland.She was the youngest and last survivor of nine siblings. She attended St. Patrick's School of Portsmouth and Portsmouth High School which was located at the now Keefe House Elderly Housing in Portsmouth. When WW IIbroke out she had to leave school to help support her family and support the war effort. Unable to finish her education at the time, Jennie was presented an Honorary High School Diploma from Portsmouth High School in 2014 at the age of 88. She accomplished much in her life.She received her nurse's aide certificate in 1975.She also belonged to many organizations: Life Member SubVets WW II;Life Member Ladies VFW Auxiliary 168 (of Portsmouth); Harbourside Garden Club of Kittery, Me; The First Christian Church Sewing Club and Amicus Club of Kittery Pt.;and The Kittery Historical Society.She also enjoyed the Common Table/Community Dinners of York, Kittery and Portsmouth where she made many friends. Jennie is survived by her daughters Jo Ann Paradis,Julie Schurman and husband Paul, Martina Charpentier and her wife Ellen Cooke, her son John Jay Hill and son Mark Hill of Texas.Her grandchildren, Bradley Paradis, Jenaya Paradis, Alex Hill and Melissa Rivers.Several great grand children, her many nieces and nephews . She was predeceased by all her siblings; first husband Henry W.Paradis, Sr., second husband Dale A. Hill and son Henry (Fella) W.Paradis, Jr. She will be fondly remembered for her amazing "Green Thumb" being able to grow anything, especially her raspberries. Her gardening knowledge was legend;her jokes and sense of humor and her many stories of the old days.She loved each holiday especially Halloween where she was always in a unique costume. She will be greatly missed and will leave a big hole in the lives of her family and her many friends. Friends may visit her family on Sunday February 28, 2016 from 5-7 pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A Mass of Chirstian Burial will be celebrated on Monday February 29, 2016 at 11am in St. Raphael's Church on Whipple Road in Kittery with Fr. Scott Mower as celebrant.
