Kittery, ME - Jerry L. Tice, 81, passed away after a period of failing health on May 30, 2022 at Brookdale of Spruce Woods Senior Living. He was born August 6, 1940 in Kingfisher, OK. The son of Floyd and Edith Marie (Jett) Tice.
Moving to Saint Helens Oregon at an early age Jerry took part in many adventures with his brother Tom along the banks of the Columbia River.He attended school in St Helens and participated in several sports. Still possessing an adventurous spirit, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1958, serving four years and receiving an honorable discharge in December of 1962. Immediately after being discharged from the Navy, he married the love of his life Kathryn Skelly. They celebrated 59 years of marriage in December. Initially settling in Hyde Park MA, Jerry worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard until being transferred to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1973 where they established their home in Kittery. Jerry enjoyed a long career at PNS as an outside machinist retiring in 1996. Since retiring, Jerry has maintained his friendships with his co-workers and over the years attended many of the Shop 38 reunions.
Jerry was active in many activities. When the children were young, he volunteered with coaching youth baseball, Boy Scouts and was a strong supporter of Traip Academy sports boosters. As the family grew, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren on vacation and watching them participate in sports and other activities. Jerry enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his friends and had a passion for watching airplanes at local airports and air shows.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Jo Elaine Jenkins and Thomas Tice. His survivors include his wife, Kathryn (Skelly) Tice, his daughter Carolyn Tice of Eliot, and his three sons, Daniel and his wife Keri of Dover NH, Robert and his wife Donna of Eliot and Christopher and his wife Lauren of South Berwick; six grandchildren, Ashley Bouchard, Nicholas Tice, Jacob Tice, Emma Tice, Aidan Tice, and Isabelle Tice; two sisters, Donna and her husband Max Bear of Columbia City, OR and Sharon and her husband Jack Carter of St. Helens, OR and many nieces and nephews.
Services: A Time of Visitation will be held for Jerry, June 6 th , 2022, from 5pm to 7pm at the J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home located at 125 Old Post Rd, Kittery, ME 03904. A Graveside Service will be held the following morning at 11am, Tuesday, June 7 th , 2022, at the Brooks Memorial Cemetery located on State Rd in Eliot, ME.
