Obituary

Kittery Point-Jo-Ann C Varney, 89, passed away November 14, 2022 peacefully in her own home surrounded by her family.

She was born June 28, 1933 on Hoyt's Island in Kittery Point Maine and was a lifelong resident of Maine She was the youngest child of Ethel and Francis Fiske. Jo-Ann attended high school at R.W. Traip Academy where she met her high school sweetheart retired Fire Chief George Varney Jr (deceased). They enjoyed sixty eight years of marriage.

Jo-Ann worked for many years on the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard however her main and most cherished job was the care of her family. George and Jo-Ann raised three children, Kathy, Dean and Scott Varney.

She loved to be surrounded by friends and family be it at her home on Hoyt's Island or at her camp on Beech Hill Pond in Otis, Maine. Jo-Ann and her sister Shirley were as close as any two sisters could be. When they were together there was always laughter and fun. To Jo-Ann family was everything.

Watching her Great Grandson's at play outside in the yard was her idea of a great day. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Jo-Ann was predeceased by her loving husband George Varney Jr, her son Dean Varney and her brothers Francis Fiske Jr and Arthur Fiske.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Varney and son Scott Varney, her Grand Daughter Mindy Glover and husband Jeremy Glover, Great Grandsons Quinn and Jasper Glover, and her sister Shirley Anderson as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in her honor to her Great Grandson's college fund will be gratefully accepted at any TD Bank and made out to Joan Varney with "donation" in the memo line or mailed to Joan Varney PO Box 95 Kittery Point Maine 03905.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on November 26, 2022 at 11 am in the First Congregational Church of Eliot, UCC at 1361 State Road in Eliot Maine 03903.
