Joan Elizabeth Melcher, 92, of Kittery, Maine, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Born on January 4, 1932, in Methuen, Massachusetts, Joan was the daughter of Clarence and Emma Leach. She married her beloved husband, Roland O. Melcher, and they shared a fulfilling marriage of 63 years together. Their journey together took them to various duty stations across the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Bahamas.

Joan's passion for walking led her to become an active member of the Volksmarch Walking Club. She is survived by her son, Roland A. Melcher, and his wife, Tammy; her daughter, Lesley Greer; and her three cherished grandchildren, Zachary Greer, Haley Greer, and Blake Greer. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Leach.

She will be laid to rest at Maine's Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine, alongside her beloved husband in a private service.
