Joann Alletha
Philbrook
Mar 27, 1928 — Apr 2, 2023
Kittery Pointe, ME - Joann Alletha Philbrook, 95, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2023 after having just celebrated her 95th birthday.
Joann was born on March 27th, 1928 to George Elmer and Gwendolyn F McCorrison. She grew up in Waterville, Maine with her four brothers and sisters. She met her husband Albert Philbrook shortly after he served in World War II and together they had two sons.
Joann was a quiet, caring woman; who loved watching western movies, knitting, playing cards, and caring for her many cats. She and Albert loved fishing, and nearly every weekend when the weather was good, the couple could be found sitting in their small boat casting a line. When family visited she would make a warm bowl of American chop suey and the most amazing homemade biscuits. However, when it came to baking she was best known for her chocolate fudge, blueberry muffins, and crispy donuts.
Before spending her last few years at Varney Crossing; her favorite place to be was in the passenger seat of her son Charles's truck eating ice cream or sitting on the couch watching him play video games, with a cat on her lap.
Joann was predeceased by her husband Albert W. Philbrook in 1987; as well as one brother and three sisters. She is survived by her son John Philbrook and wife Barbara, and son Charles Philbrook; her granddaughter Melissa Gagne and husband Steve, grandson John Philbrook Jr and wife Kirsten; and her great-grandchildren Emma, Adelaide, Logan, and Emberleigh.
