Obituary

Joanne L. (Barthelemy) Wiggin passed peacefully at her home in Eliot, Maine, on February 24, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with Cancer.

Joanne was born on June 30, 1957, in Rochester, New Hampshire, the second of nine children born to the late Nancy (Hanson) and Lester Barthelemy Jr. Her family settled in Eliot, Maine, when she was a young girl, and she graduated from Marshwood High School in

1975. Joanne welcomed one child, a daughter, and worked in many different customer service positions to support her small family. In 1999, she married her husband of over 26 years on York Beach, one of her favorite places to visit.

Joanne was loving and always willing to assist others, even when she had little to offer. She had a unique sense of style and was drawn to anything bright and colorful. Her favorite pastimes included enjoying all types of music, car racing, shopping, camping, and traveling when she was able. Joanne's pride and joy was her family, and she preferred to spend her free time surrounded by those she cared for the most. She was a beloved Mother, Nana, Wife, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Wiggin. Daughter Jessica (Barthelemy) Ruse, her husband Kevin Ruse, and cherished grandson Connor Ruse. Siblings Linda Gove, Marjorie Nichols, Rose Barthelemy, Iola Gilman, Candace Goodwin, Scott Barthelemy, Kimberly Beck, and Sarah Barthelemy, as well as several stepchildren, step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held on March 15, 2026, at the First Congregational Church of Eliot, United Church of Christ, at 1:00 PM, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the church, as it was a place of peace and faith for Joanne.
