John Arthur Geoffrion Sr. of Kittery passed away with his best friend and soul mate at his side in the early morning of Monday, March 16, 2020 after a long battle with cancer and other health problems. He was born in Portsmouth NH on December 17, 1948 to Lucien Omer and Mary Louise (Patten) Geoffrion, and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1967.
He enlisted in the Army and served as an MP in Vietnam from 1968-70, then worked as a security guard at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for several years.
John was renowned regionally as a collector and dealer of military antiques, and was a regular vendor at various flea markets in the region. He will be remembered for his gregarious laughter, generosity of spirit, warmth and kindness.
His last years were the happiest of his life spending them with his best friend and soul mate Bonnie and her son Joshua who would call John "Best Dad #2"
Survivors include his son John Geoffrion Jr. (and Al Miner) of Silver Spring MD, daughter Cindy Babcock of Old Orchard Beach, sister Martha Taylor (and Jimmy) of York, longtime companion and soul mate Bonnie Phillips and son Josh, grandchildren Casey Miner-Geoffrion, Nickolas Nolan, Brandon Blum and Jessica Blum Hennegar and great grandchild Wesley Hennegar.
Funeral services will be available for live stream public viewing on the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home Facebook page, on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 6pm EST. Public services will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen New Hampshire on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 12pm. Please follow CDC guidelines for attendance. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org. Care of the Geoffrion Family has been entrusted to J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home.
