Kittery, Maine – John "Johnny" William Martin passed away, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at his home in Kittery, with his wife Sally and his son Joseph by his side.

John was born June 6, 1957 in Portsmouth, NH to Noel and Bea Martin and was 1 of 6 children. John met his wife Sally in March 1984. They married in June 1988 and had two children together, Sarah and Joseph.

He was a skilled carpenter and painter, having worked on many historical homes in the Seacoast area throughout his career.

His family will remember him as an avid hunter who was happiest when spending time outdoors. John enjoyed fishing and canoeing, playing Cribbage and Backgammon with family and friends, and never missed a football game if he could help it.

John was affectionately known as "Bumpa" to his grandchildren, Gibson and Charlotte, whom he was especially devoted to.

John was preceded by his father, Noel, in 2001, and brother Bobby, in 1983.

John is survived by his loving wife Sally of 38 years, as well as his daughter Sarah Martin and fiance Josh Flagg and their children Gibson and Charlotte Flagg; and son Joseph Martin.

He will be greatly missed by his mother Bea Martin; sisters Julie (Andre) Nadeau and Karen Martin; brothers Tommy (Janet), Richard (Cyndi); nieces Erica Martin and Noelle Caswell; nephews Brian and Brad Martin, Adam Raymond, Erik Martin, Andre and Jeremy Nadeau.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Care for the Martin family has been entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home in Kittery.
