John "Jay"
Mccusker
Jul 22, 1947 — Nov 20, 2022
John "Jay" McCusker, 75, passed away suddenly on November 20, 2022. He was born in Portsmouth, NH on July 22, 1947 and resided on Eliot Rd in Kittery for most of his life. He was a very kind man, often laughing and joking with friends, family, and people he met while out and about. When you saw him, he would most likely have a big smile on his face. The one thing bigger than that smile, was his heart. He loved everyone and always wanted to lend a helping hand when he could.
Jay worked for several years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard before taking over HomeBodies, a local cleaning company in Kittery. The past 25+ years have been spent with the love of his life, Diane. They had the most special relationship and loved each other so very much. It wasn't often you would see one without the other.
Jay was predeceased by his parents Mildred McCusker and John S. McCusker.
Jay is survived by his wife of 19 years, Diane McCusker; one daughter, Jodi Trefethen, her husband Brian, and their son Collin of Milton, NH; a sister, Joan McCusker Wells of IN, her children Michelle and Bradley Mitchell; step-children, Theresa Jennings of TN; Donald Campbell and wife Stacey of NH; Leanne Campbell of NH; Connie Campbell of TN; Mary Campbell Ball and husband Raymond of TN; Katie Campbell Loucks of TN; Lynda Campbell Simpson and husband Andy Parsons of NH; and several step-grandchildren.
Jay also leaves behind his two best friends of over 60 years, Jimmy Sponsler and Richie Linscott. The 3 of them have made so many wonderful and crazy memories together. They were brothers at heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org in honor of Jay's wife who suffers from dementia.
