John Joseph Meehan III, an accomplished musician, woodworker, father and grandfather, died April 12 at age 68.He will be greatly missed and forever loved by many.John was born May 30, 1952 to the late John Meehan Jr. and his mother, Doris Monahan Meehan, who lived with him in West Newbury, Mass. John grew up in Marblehead, Mass., where he learned maritime history, the art of antiquing and old-world craftsmanship. In Marblehead, John met lifelong friends and married his wife, Patty Dinan Meehan.John loved the outdoors, playing guitar and sitting by a fire with a good beer. He wouldn't plant a tree without properly researching the best location, he took meticulous care of his tools and believed pie was the perfect food, including for breakfast.Most of all, John loved his family.He is survived by brothers Robert and Pete, and Pete's wife Jeannie. He was predeceased by his beloved sister Susan Meehan.John had four children; Julie Meehan, John Meehan IV, and twins Colin and Ryan Meehan. He loved being a father and his children gave him countless reasons to be proud.He was grandfather to Devon, Riley and William Guyer, and McKenna and Samantha Meehan. John was father-in-law to Hillary Meehan, son-in-law to John (and the late Joan Brun) Dinan and brother-in-law to Elizabeth, John and Joseph Dinan, Catherine and Jim Jackson and Anne Dinan and Michael McCord.John was employed by Bishop Fenwick High School which recently honored him for his ethics.Services will be private.
